01 Background
Konain spent fifteen years in luxury automotive — Harley-Davidson and Porsche — in regional leadership roles across the UK, Germany, India and Singapore. Both are community-led, people-led brands that have been around for a hundred years, which he takes as evidence that they have been getting ready for the future the whole time. He led CRM rollouts, ran regional training programmes for a decade, and built people excellence programmes, retail consulting and high-performing leaders across EMEA and APAC.
The lesson that redirected him arrived early. A manager told him he led with influence but no authority. He took it as criticism at first — he had been working towards authority — and then stopped. What is the point of authority, he asks, if you cannot bring people along, and they are only there because you hold a title? Telling people what to do works for a while. It will not make them come in early and stay late when their heart is not in it.
Most of us react to the future — it just happens to us. Very rarely do you find the organisations who are sweating in peace today, so that tomorrow is easy.
His reading of the problem is that intention is not the scarce thing. Every leader he meets wants a team that is ready for tomorrow. Most organisations still react to the future, caught on their backs like a turtle, while a small minority sweat in peace today so that tomorrow is easy. Nassim Taleb’s black swans are his reference point: you cannot plan for them, but you can prepare for them, by building a workforce resilient enough to lean on each other when one arrives.
Within the Future.Pro framework he carries the Creator identity — the human capacity to bring into being what does not yet exist, which means trusting your gut on partial data and letting perhaps ten per cent of the work run loose. Asked which pillar he would take home, though, he chooses the Collaborator: workplaces with low friction, where people feel heard and know their ideas matter. Why, he asks, would you spend more time at work than with your own family and not enjoy it?
His sessions are built to be practical and high-energy — unlocking the marginal gains that move strategic outcomes rather than dwelling on theory. Outside work: photography, cycling, cooking, volunteering and family.
